Regional Plant Controller

Job Summary: 


The primary focus of the Region Plant Controller is to be accountable for the overall integrity, accuracy and completeness of the company's plant operations financial results and safeguarding of plant assets. The Region Controller partners with the plant management team and engages in all aspects of these operations to provide timely and comprehensive financial leadership to the plant management teams. This role is also responsible for maintaining and oversite of compliance with the comprehensive set of controls designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the Plant's reported financial results and ensure compliance with international financial reporting standards.


This role is also responsible for managing and developing 4 to 5 direct reports responsible for the day to day accounting, reporting and forecasting and internal controls for the plant operations at other plant sites within the Region.  Responsible for the personal development of the team members to ensure success in current roles and be considered potential candidates for future growth opportunities. Continuously manage the team and team priorities to ensure prioritization and delivery of objectives while supporting the changing needs of the business and operations business partners.


 


Duties and Essential Job Functions: 



  • Overall responsibility for the multiple plant operations financial results and delivery of accurate timely results in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), company processes/procedures and statutory regulations. Achieves this through working closely with the Plant management team, Cost Accounting/Inventory management and Finance teams.

  • Leads and manages the period-end closing process for the Plant, monitoring and implementing controls as needed while maintaining good segregation of duties.

  • Work with plant management teams and cost accounting to set annual standards and production yields for financial reporting and costing analysis

  • Provide financial guidance and support to plant management with proactive communication of accounting/reporting issues and recommendations.

  • Provide guidance/input to management on key business decisions that enable effective and efficient operations and delivery of cost savings 

  • Provide guidance to plant management in the origination of capital expenditure requests. Prepare/review financial support for the capital requests ensuring compliance to company policy and robust accurate projections of costs and savings generated by the project. Perform post capital expenditure audits and reviews.

  • Ensure the Manufacturing plant finance team provides local subject expertise for ERP system financial reporting and processes. And ensure integrity of plant financial data and information in company systems

  • Ensure compliance with key control procedures and corporate policies and procedures at the local level plant management team to ensure the overall financial integrity of the plant financial information and safeguarding of assets.

  • Maintain open communication with peers to foster a consistent approach in the financial management of the local operating units.

  • Provide support for external and internal audits at the operating facilities. Complete other ad-hoc reporting requests

  • Manage the weekly/monthly/quarterly forecast process with the plant management teams and finance staff in the region to deliver accurate forecasted results.  Appropriate identification of risks and opportunities.

  • Lead the development of the annual Operating Plan for the manufacturing facilities within the region.

  • Work with the Plant Management Team to identify and recommend process improvements that will deliver financial benefits or mitigate financial risks. Analyze financial data to facilitate decision-making process at the  plant management level 


Qualifications:


       BS/BA in Accounting


       Minimum of 5 years at controller level


       CPA or equivalent designation preferred


       Manufacturing/costing experience


       Staff management experience

       ERP System experience

       Strives for high performance and uses technical skills effectively with a demonstrated emphasis to detail and accuracy. Ability to multi-task, and work in an organized, detailed manner under limited time frames & tight deadlines.


       Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills and Financial Modeling


       Knowledge of financial accounting systems, controls and compliance procedures and industry practices


       Strong Business Ethics Commitment


       Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability explain results, document processes, and convey ideas.


       Financial analysis skills (identifies information needed to prepare and validate analyses; interprets and draws conclusions from financial information; extracts meaning from data by recognizing trends and patterns)


       IFRS knowledge


       Multiple site, remote site management


       Ability to demonstrate continuous improvement in previous roles.  Active involvement in cost savings development.


       Sarbanes-Oxley implementation and maintenance experience.


       Emphasis on problem prevention and developing ideas for improvement.





Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
